Navigating the world of artificial intelligence can be tricky. In this talk, Dr. Julien Boussard of McGill University and Mila will explore how AI can be incorporated into research and writing, and how to do so responsibly. He will suggest best practices for using AI throughout the different parts of the research process (ideation, writing, coding, designing experiments etc…), and ethical considerations related to AI. The goal of the talk is to give practical advice and think critically about how to use AI in your research, to ensure it supports better research and helps you avoid common pitfalls.

About the speaker: Julien Boussard is a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University and Mila – Quebec AI Institute, where he works on machine learning methods for climate science, including causality, representation learning, and climate model emulation. He recently completed his PhD in Statistics at Columbia University and has contributed to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of AI, climate modeling, causal inference and signal processing.
