In this workshop we will provide a brief introduction to past international scientific ocean drilling (SciOD) programs, discuss the types of reports past expeditions have produced, review the sample curation scheme, discuss approaches to identifying and requesting samples, and review some opportunities for getting involved in current scientific ocean drilling efforts. This workshop is geared towards those who are new to SciOD or potentially interested in pursuing SciOD science using legacy materials. This workshop will also include time for self-guided exploration of legacy reports, sample request systems, and associated databases.
